Megan: “Ready to list and sell your first product on [Fulfillment by Amazon] FBA?
“I’m Megan, and in this video, we’re going to walk through the exact steps to get your first product live and selling. And we’re going to do it all in three minutes. If I do it in less than three minutes, go ahead and hit the like button and subscribe for more.
“Okay, put up the timer. Ready? Set. Go.
Step 1: Go to sell.amazon.com and sign up for an Amazon selling account
“There are two plans: the Individual and the Professional plan. I recommend the Professional plan. It’s $39.99 a month and offers a full suite of tools and unlocks access to over $50,000 in New Seller Incentives.
The Professional plan offers a full suite of tools and unlocks access to $50,000 in New Seller Incentives.
Step 2: Create your first product listing
“Check your product’s eligibility. Most products qualify except alcoholic beverages, tires, and certain hazmat items. Also review expiration dates [and] requirements if your product does have a shelf life.
“For your first product, add it individually through Seller Central. Select Amazon will ship and provide customer service when listing. You can use bulk uploads or API integrations later as you scale.
Step 3: Prepare your first product
“For your first shipment, accurate product dimensions are critical to avoid inventory issues. Each unit needs a scannable barcode: either a manufacturer barcode or your Amazon barcode. You’re also going to need product measurements, boxes, poly bags, and a shipping scale, and a printer.
To help reduce costs, you can use Ships in Product Packaging for FBA. It can lower prep needs and provide FBA discounts.
Step 4: Ship to Amazon
“Use the Send to Amazon workflow in Seller Central under Inventory, then Shipments. You can create reusable case pack templates for single-SKU boxes to speed up future shipments. Don’t worry if that sounds hard on your first shipment. The workflow guides you through each step. You’ll be fine, I promise.
“Then choose Small parcel delivery if you’re shipping less than 150 pounds. If you’re shipping a bunch of stuff, you can build and send a pallet. If you’re sending less than 1,500 pounds or 5,000 boxes, you can choose Pallet LTL, which means less than a truckload [LTL].
New sellers get $100 credit for Amazon Partner Carrier [program] shipments.
“Amazon then automatically distributes your inventory across fulfillment centers for faster delivery to customers. New sellers get $100 credit for Amazon Partner Carrier [program] shipments.
“Here is a video to tell you everything you need to know about that. The link is in the description.
“Once we receive a shipment from the carrier, FBA will process the inventory either same or up to three days. Once live, your product displays the Prime badge and qualifies for free two-day shipping, and we handle every customer order from that point on: pick, pack, shipping, customer service, and returns. You can monitor everything through your FBA dashboard and set up restock alerts to maintain about two months of inventory.
“Annnnnd time! How’d I do?”
[off-camera] “Two minutes, 21 seconds.”
