Selling high-value products online comes with a different set of expectations. Shoppers expect fast, reliable delivery, and responsive support—and for sellers, a single costly return or missing shipment can carry more weight than it would on a lower-priced product.
Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) is a program that lets you outsource order fulfillment to Amazon. It also lets you offer customers free, two-day shipping through Prime. Once you enroll, you can send your products into Amazon’s global network of fulfillment centers, and we’ll pick, pack, and ship your orders. Plus, we’ll handle customer service and returns. FBA offers a strong foundation for sellers of premium and high-value inventory, along with a set of optional tools designed specifically to address the challenges that come with it.
Why sell high-value products with Amazon FBA?
1. Improved inventory security and faster reimbursements
For high-value products, missing inbound inventory isn’t just an inconvenience, it’s meaningful capital loss. A single missing unit in a shipment can represent hundreds of dollars in unrecovered inventory costs. For qualifying products over $50, FBA’s enhanced inbound service proactively monitors and automatically creates investigation claims on sellers’ behalf without requiring them to file cases themselves, drastically reducing time to reimbursement.
2. Fewer returns
Returns are one of the most significant cost drivers for high-value sellers. Amazon Product Support offers several tools to help address this before a return is initiated:
- Connection to existing support: Brands can connect customers directly with their own support teams via call or chat through Amazon, preventing returns caused by product issues.
- Replacement parts: Customers can request free replacement parts during the return window instead of returning an entire high-value product. Most customers who receive the parts they need choose to keep their product.
- Partial refunds: Sellers can offer customers a partial refund of up to 50% instead of a physical return, reducing operational costs while resolving the issue quickly.

3. Stronger protections and support for returns
For returns that do occur, FBA offers programs to reduce their financial impact on high-value inventory.
- FBA Grade & Resell: Amazon professionally inspects and grades eligible returned items across four condition tiers—Like New, Very Good, Good, and Acceptable—and automatically relists them as used products, helping offset the cost of a return.
- Dedicated returns support: For items priced above $50, cases involving damaged, missing components, or materially different returns are escalated to a dedicated support team with a 48-hour review and processing window.
4. Incentives for new selection
For sellers testing whether FBA is the right fit for their business, the FBA New Selection program offers a low-risk way to get started without committing to full-scale fulfillment costs upfront.
Benefits for new-to-FBA ASINs include:
- Monthly average rebate of 10% on sales
- Free monthly storage and liquidations for up to 50 units for the first three months
- Free removals for up to six months
- Free returns processing for eligible categories
- Global enrollment across the Amazon store
